Walking in and around Oostduinkerke

Oostduinkerke is surrounded by a patchwork of dune areas, from open marram dunes by the sea to a wooded stream valley on the edge of the village.

• Dunes down to the sea: Ter Yde between Oostduinkerke and Groenendijk is the largest of the nature reserves, with paths from the beach deep into the dunes.
• Plenty of choice: seven walking routes of almost 8 to more than 18 km start in and around the village.
• Seen from above: climb one of the viewpoints for a view over dunes and polders.
• Beach walk: at low tide the firm sand of the wide beach is ideal for walking.

7 Walking routes

The walking routes around Oostduinkerke cross the dunes of Ter Yde and the Doornpanne, the Hannecartbos and the polder behind the village.

• Ter Ydewandelroute: 7.9 km through the dune area of the same name, largely on natural paths.
• Spelleplekke wandelroute: 8.3 km, mostly paved, past the smaller dune areas on the edge of the village.
• Witte Burgwandelroute: 9.9 km along the Witte Burg, an offshoot of the Doornpanne.
• Kruwers wandelroute: 10.2 km, almost half of it on natural paths.
• Wandelen in Koksijde-Oostduinkerke (11.2 km) and the Duinenwandeling in Koksijde-Oostduinkerke (11.9 km): two routes linking both resorts.
• Sportief wandelen in De Panne en Koksijde: at 18.4 km the longest walk, all the way to De Panne.
